The Hills Are Alive With the Sound of Music
‘Notes at 9,000: Emerging Artist Series’
Announces Semi-Finalist Competition August 2 at the Top of Winter
Park Ski Area
BOULDER, CO (August 2, 2006) --“It is Colorado’s own
version of “American Idol.’ Well, more or less,”
observed the Denver Post Best Bets editor when heralding the first
Notes at 9,000: Emerging Artist Series competition in Winter Park.
Similar to Idol’s competition format, the Notes at 9,000 Semi-finalists
will perform before the public and a panel of three judges on Wednesday,
August 2 at 1:30 p.m. The Notes competition will be staged in an
awe-inspiring venue, at The Lodge at Sunspot against Winter Park
Ski Area’s breathtaking Rocky Mountain backdrop. The six semi-finalists
are: Rob Drabkin, (Acoustic Rock Singer), Lizary Rodriguez Rios
(Harpist), Akiko Sasaki (Pianist), Alicia Fall (Singer/Songwriter),
Eliana Maria Murphy (Pianist), and Bonnie Draina (Soprano). (See
www.emergingartistseries.com for more about these talented and charismatic
musicians.)
Notes at 9,000 was founded in 2004 by SoYoung Lee, Amy Clark and
Kyle Harris. They determined that Winter Park and Tabernash were
Colorado communities whose pioneering spirit and rich history would
appropriately reflect the aspirations of the series and its emerging
musicians. It is with great pride that Notes at 9,000 partners with
the following sponsors for its 2006 competition: Winter Park Ski
Area, Elk Horn Art Gallery, Nissi’s, Intrawest, Grand Foundation,
Charles Schwab, Beaver Village, Founder’s Pointe, Fraser Crossing,
Logger Lane Townhomes, Southwest Art, Rendezvous Foundation, Winter
Park and Fraser Valley, and the Boulder County Arts Alliance.
Artistic Director, SoYoung Lee, is “ecstatic to be a co-founder
of this competition where musicians with exceptional talent, charisma
and motivation are provided with mentorship, professional development
tools and opportunities to launch and sustain their professional
careers.” Three winners will be invited back to perform a
full-length concert on August 5, 6:30 p.m. at the Church of Eternal
Hills in Tabernash and on August 7, 7:30 p.m. at Nissi’s in
Lafayette, Colorado. Each winner will receive two concert opportunities,
live recording, CD, artist dossier, professional development workshops,
mentoring, networking and a $1,000 cash award.
Tickets are $15 for Adults, $10 for Seniors and students. Tickets
for the August 2 and 5 concerts may be purchased at www.TicketsWest.com,
TicketsWest outlets, or at the door and tickets for the August 7
concert at Nissis may be purchased at www.Nissis.com
or at the door.
